I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. I had a strong desire to go fishing at an early age. Dad was not a fisherman. He and Mom were pretty busy caring and providing for our large family. Uncle Pat and Cousin Herb worked rotating shifts. They mentored me in the art of spin fishing. When I was in the 8th grade, I had saved enough money to buy a fly rod and reel. I practiced my skills in the ponds of the Cook County Forest Preserves. I had a number of fishing opportunities in college. There were 2 lakes on the Notre Dame campus and the St. Joseph River ran through South Bend. I also made a lifelong friend with an excellent fly fisherman. He really helped me with my skills.

A job opportunity took me to Central PA. In 1980 my wife and I bought a beautiful old house in Boalsburg. I quickly discovered Spring Creek and have been fishing it ever since.

Judi recruited me to the Board a while ago. I served with Judi, Bob and Lynn Mitchell. I am looking forward to another term on the Board and contributing to our Chapter.
